words to shoot by is back! we’re on our second word of the year: together. i shot these in a beautiful old church in Beacon Hill on friday night a couple weeks ago. we joined a couple friends at that church for a concert featuring an experimental cello quartet and a couple other string ensambles. i had only brought my camera on a whim, since i rarely shoot at night, but i’m lucky i did.

It seemed a bit too touristy to me at first, but look at his face… how could I deny that (& the goofy bib!). Lobsters at the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound was indeed a highlight of the Bar Harbor trip.

bar harbor maine, october 2012

Wish I was there right now…our little (rental) cabin in the woods of Maine that is. I’m pretty certain this was one of the most relaxing vacations we’ve had yet. The mister and I got up to the cabin just before sundown. We poured big glasses of red wine, piled on cozy sweaters and waited for the sunset in the adirondack chairs on the back porch. I think about that hour more times than I care to admit these days.

Insta January

Well after a busy month without any Insta Wknds I though a little recap of the month’s highlights was in order. Eric and I started off the new year with the flu (boo!) so there was a fair amount of self medicating. Whether it was the donuts or fancy gin, it did the trick. By mid month I was up for a few outings and we saw Salem and made our annual ikea visit. The end of the month brought a trip up to Crane’s beach for a WTSB shoot. It was bitterly cold & fiercely windy but so beautiful. Can’t wait to get back there in the warmer weather.

Set 1 clockwise: our first coffees post flu. Pure magic / donuts from Lyndell’s revived us / St. George gin, I’ve been on a bit of a gin kick / a lovely cut paper lamp at ikea / beautiful Seaworthy earrings from my lovely friend Beth.
Set 2 clockwise: the adorable paws of Tux, the senior neighbor cat I have a total crush on / shaved brussel sprout salad from Area 4 I’ve been obsessed with / a remarkably perilous book shop in Salem. I first photographed it years ago / light fading on crane’s beach / this past weekend, a trip to Sofra.

hang in there

It’s been a little more quiet around the blog than I would like lately. I’ve been under some professional stress through the past month, and photos have had to take a backseat. Just posting this make me miss posting regularly, it’s like an odd homesick feeling actually. I am optimistic that things will cool down on the work front soon. Until then, I leave you with one of my favorite photos from bar harbor, just slightly out of focus but still lovely and so calming. Also a heads-up… there’s a new Words to Shoot By in the works! (I was out shooting on Sunday). Stay tuned!

On our way up to bar harbor we decided to the take the slow winding road up the coast, stopping in as many tiny fishing towns as we could. We watched the sunrise over the Rockland harbor then meandered up to Camden, Castine and Belfast. Most of these shots are from Belfast.

I took a bit of an unplanned, but turns out, much needed blog-break for the past month. thanks for sticking with me and please look forward to many new film shots from my fall adventures and hopefully new winter ones. the image above is from our trip to Bar Harbor. I have so, so many photos from that trip i can’t wait to share. so stay tuned over the next week as they start to emerge. I hope you are having a happy and healthy start to the new year. I am hopefully expectant that this will be a great year, I can just feel it.
