words to shoot by is back! we’re on our second word of the year: together. i shot these in a beautiful old church in Beacon Hill on friday night a couple weeks ago. we joined a couple friends at that church for a concert featuring an experimental cello quartet and a couple other string ensambles. i had only brought my camera on a whim, since i rarely shoot at night, but i’m lucky i did.
life has been at light speed the past couple weeks, and i missed posting the latest Words. Our word was cheer, to celebrate the season and another successful year of Words to Shoot By. I stumbled upon an overly cheerful (read: drunken) scene in harvard square a couple wknds back. the Yulefest 5K had just ended and its participants were in refreshing themselves and enjoying one hell of a dance party; it’s was pretty entertaining. coincidentally i saw that same elf (last shot) in full costume leaving the Cambridge 5K this past sunday, serial holiday 5k’er?
Cheer will be our final post for the year and the project will go on a short hiatus while everyone enjoys the holidays. we’ll be back in the new year, can’t wait.
the latest words to shoot by is up! our word was thankful. i have much to be thankful for but the thing that i most savor this time of year is a feast with friends. we shared a mid-afternoon nosh with our good friends at a restaurant is called eventide oyster company in portland, maine. the food, drinks, and late afternoon sunlight at eventide are spectacular. the fried oyster bun (second to last shot) was my favorite!
well lookie what i just found in my drafts folder! better late than never right? our most recent words to shoot by post was Fall. i shot it in and around a cranberry bog in Carver, MA. I’ll have many more shots of that bog and it’s bittersweet encased old barn to share soon!
and a few outtakes….
the latest Words to Shoot By it up! This round our word was WATER, and we also had an open call for entries so the post at WTSB is jam-packed with great photos! I shot my images at Sandy Neck Beach on Cape Cod. The water was surprisingly warm that day. Through the shallow tide i waded out and watched the patterns the sun refracted on the sand through the water. there were quiet a few people out in the water near me and in the last shot you can see someone parked their cane on the beach while they took a dip. i love it.
the latest words to shoot by is up! our word was fun. i shot my images in Falmouth on Cape Cod during a relaxed beach weekend. pims cup, lawn games, dinner outside, friends…..that’s summer fun to me!
the lastest words to shoot by is up! our word was summer. i couldn’t resist a few shots of one of our favorite summer indulgences…fried fish! the best of the best of these meals usually come from tiny, weather little roadside shacks. the bite in menemsha was exactly that and the massive line out front was our signal to stop. we scarfed down fried clams, zucchini, and jalapenos beside menemsha harbor, which to our amusement that day, is a bustling fishing hub on the island.
the latest words to shoot by is up. our word was Out. i took my shots at the Ipswich River Sanctuary.
Also a little bit of wtsb news to pass along…Steph Parke, the fantastic lady who created and has run Words for the past 3 years is stepping down from the helm. She will be missed, though will continue to contribute photos to the project (yay). The equally fantastic mr. dave tuttle is taking over to keep to project going. Hoooray! Good luck Steph and thanks Dave!
the latest words to shoot by is up! our word was chair. these were taken on a few different walks between somerville & harvard square. the second shot is one of my favorite shots i’ve taken in the past few weeks.
my latest Words to Shoot By shots and a few bonus outtakes! the word was Word. these shots were taken on a little spring wander i enjoyed this past weekend. I’ll share more shots later this week.
